Kate Jackson

Former Long Blondes singer Kate Jackson created all of the band’s artwork over their six year career. The Sheffield based Indie icons rose to prominence after years of toiling up and down the country as the ‘best unsigned band in Britain’. They won the NME’s Philip Hall Radar Award in 2006 and signed to Rough Trade records shortly afterwards. Two critically acclaimed albums and two world tours followed. Their songs were full of femme fatales, failed actresses, sixties pop idols and glamorous housewives, each one its own mini kitchen sink drama. Kate’s single and album covers were intended to bring the lyrics alive visually, creating a fantasy world for the fans to enter into and become part of. Her cover stars include Diana Dors, Dusty Springfield, Faye Dunaway and Kim Novak and reference film, music, pop culture and travel.
In October 2008, Kate Jackson announced her intention to follow a solo career after the band’s demise, and has since been writing with ex Suede guitarist Bernard Butler.
